Headshot for Dew Udagedara
Undergraduate Fellow, Class of 2029

Dew Udagedara

Dew is a student in the College of Arts and Sciences, majoring in Neuroscience and English, two fields between which he sees a deep synergy. He is fascinated with the cellular impulses that constitute conscious perception, the introspection of literature, and how the two might work in tandem with another.

Hailing from Southern California, Dew entered Penn excited to engage with an unfamiliar way of life and a host of new perspectives. At the same time, having deepened his knowledge of the basic sciences, he finds himself pondering the existential implications of chemistry, biology, and the like. He is also an Opinion Columnist for The Daily Pennsylvanian where he discusses how  Penn’s social and academic culture can minimize judgment and maximize open conversation.

As a Paideia fellow, he seeks to examine how science curriculum and dialogue can intersect discussions of literature and humanity, to promote a sort of existential wellness. In the future, Dew plans to harness what he learns in Paideia as he pursues a career in medicine, where articulation and listening are of supreme importance.
