Dr. John Kehayias is a writer and theoretical physicist who has done research in particle physics, gravity, cosmology, and astrophysics. His research in fundamental physics looked at questions like the origin of the universe and matter, the nature of gravity, and deepening our theoretical understanding of particle physics. John Kehayias has a PhD in physics from the University of California, Santa Cruz and a BA in mathematics and physics from Columbia University. After his PhD he was a postdoctoral scholar at the Kavli Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe (Kavli IPMU) in Japan and Vanderbilt University. In 2017 he joined the faculty in the Critical Writing Program at the University of Pennsylvania where he teaches writing seminars focusing on the intersection of physics, math, and technology in everyday life. He also teaches a Penn Global Seminar, Scientific Nationalism in Japan, with travel to Japan.
