Purity is a Kenyan student in Penn Nursing from Lugari, a small town in western Kenya, where she grew up in a household of eight. Her interest in healthcare is shaped by a global perspective, particularly how people experience care across different systems and resource settings. She is passionate about understanding inequities in healthcare access and exploring ways to make healthcare more responsive and accessible. Alongside her work in nursing, she aspires to become a pilot, driven by a curiosity about the world and a desire to move across borders.
The SNF Paideia Program appeals to her because it creates space for thoughtful dialogue across differences. She is especially interested in exploring how healthcare intersects with broader social realities and believes that meaningful conversations can lead to deeper understanding and more impactful change. She approaches learning as something that is shared and shaped by diverse perspectives.
Outside of academia, Purity enjoys spending time with her friends, cooking and sharing meals, and finding simple ways to stay grounded. She loves going on walks, listening to music, and dancing when she needs a break. She values community and the everyday moments that bring people together.
