Quéren is an international student from Burundi and a freshman in the Huntsman Program at the University of Pennsylvania, studying Economics and International Studies with French as her target language. Growing up, she saw firsthand how access to education and economic opportunity can shape lives, sparking her passion for global development. While she initially aspired to become a businesswoman, she later realized that her love for slam poetry allowed her to make a more profound impact. Now, she is exploring how her education can be a tool for meaningful change.
Quéren thrives in spaces that challenge her to grow while making a tangible difference. Her ultimate goal is to develop sustainable solutions for developing countries, recognizing their immense potential beyond being aid recipients. She is particularly interested in resource allocation, and economic diversification and is seeking to understand how developing economies can foster self-sustaining growth.
Quéren is also passionate about fostering dialogue and entrepreneurship. She is currently launching a biweekly discussion series for young Burundians to engage in conversations about the country’s most pressing social, political, and economic issues. Additionally, she is exploring ways to promote Ubuntu, the philosophy of shared humanity and collective progress, by integrating it into everyday habits. Through her work, she aims to empower communities, challenge conventional narratives, and contribute to impactful change.
