Register

Join Penn Alumni and partners for a virtual Career Industry and Networking Series focused on Public Health on Wednesday, April 7th at 7:00 PM ET.

Public Health expert CEA Winslow defines Public Health as “the science and art of preventing disease, prolonging life, and promoting health through the organized efforts and informed choices of society, organizations, public and private communities, and individuals.” Roles in the Public Health field can range in function and scope across different communities and areas that include research, policy, education, and direct service. Take a deep dive with alumni professionals in the Public Health field to learn more about their unique experiences and perspectives in the work that they do. This discussion will give its participants a rounded understanding on different Public Health career paths traveled by fellow Penn alums. Our talk will be composed of a moderated discussion, a Q&A segment with the audience, followed by optional breakout networking sessions with our speakers.

7:00 – 7:10 PM ET – Welcome and Introduction
7:10 – 7:40 PM ET – Panel with moderated discussion
7:40 – 7:55 PM ET – Q&A with audience
7:55 – 8:25 PM ET – Networking breakouts with speakers

Polarization and the Media in American Politics: A Conversation with Michael Smerconish

Polarization and the Media in American Politics: A Conversation with Michael Smerconish Michael Smerconish is one of the nation’s most visible media personalities, with a daily radio show on Sirius/XM and a Saturday CNN show. He also provides analysis on CNN for big events, writes columns and books, and more. Maybe most uniquely: Michael is one of the few voices in the media who can’t be pigeonholed ideologically. He’ll be fielding questions on what it’s like to be somewhere in the center in our increasingly ideological media, how the media shapes our politics, what we can do to build a media that better serves the public, and whether prominent figures should be blacklisted from the media if they can’t tell the truth. We’ll also cover the state of politics and whether our two party system is capable of representing Americans like him in 2023. Michael will also field questions from the audience.Learn More
