“Using the Power of Social Proof to Create Change”.

In his presentation, Dr. Cialdini will discuss how to employ seven universal principles of persuasion to produce change ethically. However, he will concentrate primarily on one of the principles, that of Social Proof (aka the descriptive social norm). In the process, he will discuss both effective and wrongheaded applications of the principle by communicators seeking to create change in others.

Hosted in conjunction with the SNF Paideia designated course How We Change: Social-Psychological and Communication Dynamics taught by Dolores AlbarracĂn.

Guest Speaker: Bob Cialdini: Dr. Cialdini is a psychologist and academic. He is the Regents’ Professor Emeritus of Psychology and Marketing at Arizona State University and was a visiting professor of marketing, business, and psychology at Stanford University, as well as at the University of California at Santa Cruz.
