1 National Day of Dialogue

The National Day of Dialogue is YOUR opportunity to join a nationwide movement that stands up to division and polarization. Founded by Ideos Institute, the National Day of Dialogue, held each year on January 5th, is supported by national and international organizations working to build trust, connection, and a more empathic future through the transformative power of dialogue.

SNF Paideia is participating in the 2023 National Day of Dialogue, offering a session on Designing for Dialogue in Higher Education, Thursday, January 5th, 5:20 PM – 6:50 PM.

Presented by Leah Seppanen Anderson, Executive Director, SNF Paideia Program along with Lia Howard, Student Advising and Wellness Director; Ian MacMullen, SNF Paideia Visiting Scholar; and Sarah Ropp, Post-Doc with the SNF Paideia Program and Andrea Mitchell Center for the Study of Democracy.

In this interactive session staff from the SNF Paideia Program at the University of Pennsylvania will share what they have learned, and are still learning, about creating programs that support dialogue and deliberation in higher education. This session will respond to participants’ interests, with options to orient the conversation around one or more of the following themes: the connection between wellness and dialogue, the role of dialogue in civic engagement, dialogue as service and service as dialogue, integrating dialogue in academic courses, creating an undergraduate fellows program centered around dialogue, and/or higher education events programming to promote meaningful deliberation. Participants will have opportunities to offer their experiences, including successes and challenges. There will be space for information sharing and idea generating among the session’s participants.

Register for the entire NDOD event and join us on Thursday for the SNF Paideia session.
