Penn’s Center for Excellence in Teaching, Learning, and Innovation (CETLI) presents “Preparing for Discussions Across Difference.” Discussions across difference allow students to see multiple sides of an issue, reflect on their own positions, and develop the critical skills to be better thinkers and citizens. While the benefits are clear, instructors sometimes are anxious to start conversations that engage differences either because they fear students will refuse or because they fear the conversation may cause offense. This event will be held at Van Pelt Library, CETLI Seminar Room 134 (3420 Walnut St.).

Co-led by Dr. Leah Anderson, SNF Paideia Executive Director, and Dr. Catherine Turner, Director, Faculty Programming and Pedagogy, Center for Excellence in Teaching, Learning, and Innovation. This session will allow instructors to discuss concrete strategies to prepare for these discussions and make sure that discussions across difference can be productive for student learning.
