Ronnie Wang

Material Science and Computer Science

Ronald (Ronnie) is a student in the School of Engineering and Applied Science, aspiring to major in material science and computer science. He is currently conducting research on novel materials with the Li Group and research on computational sustainability. Ronnie believes that engineers may help communities through increasing efficiency and facilitating a more equitable distribution of resources.

Ronnie is fascinated by different cultures and perspectives and is not afraid to explore. He is currently a member of Onda Latina, where he explores Latin American culture through dance. Language learning is another method that Ronnie uses to learn about cultures, and he is currently improving his Mandarin, Shanghai dialect, Spanish, and French.

Coming from a small town, Ronnie is excited in the new diverse and very large community at the University of Pennsylvania and hopes to learn more about how he can aid small town/rural communities such as his thrive despite their dwindling populations and lack of resources. Additionally, he would like to inform others of the perspectives of small-town individuals to increase political empathy in an environment that lacks such viewpoints.
