Angela Duckworth is the Rosa Lee and Egbert Chang Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, faculty co-director of the Penn-Wharton Behavior Change for Good Initiative, and faculty co-director of Wharton People Analytics. She is the founder and CEO of Character Lab, a nonprofit whose mission is to advance scientific insights that help children thrive.

Angela teaches the SNF Paideia Designated course Grit Lab: The Science and Practice of Passion and Perseverance. Grit is about passion and perseverance for long-term goals. In addition to reviewing the psychological literature relevant to grit, the class offers students science-based strategies for managing real-life challenges.

In a Penn Today article, Duckworth commented, “My goal is that the students learn something about the world, themselves, and how they can make a unique contribution to making the world better, particularly for younger people for whom they are role models.”
