Benjamin Rutherford is studying political science with a minor in survey research and data analytics. Hailing from Alexandria, Virginia, Benjamin enjoys aerobic exercise, reading, and discovering new music. He is the captain of the Penn Heavyweight Rowing team and spends lots of time on the Schuylkill river moving boats with his friends. Benjamin is also an avid reader who especially enjoys the works of Kurt Vonnegut, David Foster Wallace, and Malcolm Gladwell. When he’s not working at an elevated heart rate or reading postmodern fiction, Benjamin loves curating his beloved spotify playlists. Drawing from several blogs and websites, he makes it his mission to have the most esoteric music taste among his peers. Some of his favorite artists include Aphex Twin, The Avalanches, and Nick Drake. He also enjoys online discussions surrounding his favorite authors and artists.
Benjamin is passionate about housing legislation and has previously worked as a research assistant to Professor Emeritus Rogers Smith and as an intern for Rep. Gerry Connolly’s re-election campaign.
