Jocelyn Tan plans to study Philosophy, Politics, & Economics with minors in Data Science & Analytics and Consumer Psychology. With a curious and open mind, she enjoys teaching and communicating with individuals of all ages and backgrounds, finding the experience a two-way learning relationship. As a Vice President of the Penn Figure Skating Club, she shares her love for the sport by coaching children and Penn students, in addition to directing an annual skating show for everyone to enjoy. She also strengthens her pursuit for service by volunteering as a teaching assistant at Comegys Elementary School. In both positions, Jocelyn strives to ensure all her students’ voices are heard and valued through active listening, critical thinking, and empathetic dialogue. Through the SNF Paideia Fellows Program, she is excited to further these skills and expand her exploration of dialogue across differences. As she navigates through Penn, she hopes to continue fostering a positive impact on those around her by maintaining values of wellness, service, citizenship, and dialogue.
In the future, she plans to drive her interdisciplinary passions for social thought, public policy, and data analysis into shaping solutions that better society as a whole. With experience consulting for Penn First Plus as a Consultant at the Diversity Inclusion Strategic Consulting club, she led focus groups on meal plans to produce conclusive results that foster greater equitable access to food on campus. She continues to challenge her communication and problem-solving abilities as a Product Management Support Intern at a Singaporean EduTech company that creates meaningful e-learning product solutions. Above all, the incorporation of SNF Paideia’s pillars excites Jocelyn in her pursuit for tangible impact as a well-rounded citizen of society.
