Stephanie Acquaye

Stephanie Acquaye is a doctoral student at Penn’s School of Nursing. Her work focuses on understanding characteristics of and strategies for implementation of high-quality, culturally-appropriate perinatal care services. She earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing at Penn and has experience as a birth doula, as well as a labor & delivery and postpartum nurse. Stephanie is a Hillman Scholar and active member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society and the Association for Women’s Health, Obstetrics, and Neonatal Nurses.

Having been raised across cultures and now working in university and healthcare settings where individuals with a range of different experiences and beliefs interact, she understands how crucial it is for our society to create and maintain a culture of humble, empathetic, and fact-based civil discourse. She was drawn to the SNF Paideia Program for its emphasis on creating space for groups of curious, driven individuals from diverse backgrounds to build and refine their civil discourse abilities.

Acquaye enjoys trips to the shore, snuggles with her (very large, very orange) cat named Lars, and visits home to her family and friends in Minnesota.
