Shirali is co-chair of the Wharton Wellness Board and Co-Vice President of Recruitment for the Panhellenic Council. She serves as the Speaker Events Coordinator of Asian American Pacific Islander Politics, where she facilitates speaker events to initiate dialogue about the issues affecting the AAPI community. In the fall 2021 semester, Shirali furthered this experience working as a teaching assistant in ASAM 230: Asian American Civil Rights.
During the summer of 2021, Shirali was a news editor for the Daily Pennsylvanian where she continues to write, reporting accurate and unbiased news in order to hold institutions accountable. Demonstrating her dedication to the mission of the SNF Paideia Program through her involvement in civic engagement, she hopes to deepen her understanding of how civic dialogue influences public policy.
Shirali is curious about the roles our identities play in advancing social justice movements, and how they influence how we serve communities and engage in civic dialogue. She was selected as a fellow for the Wharton Decision Processes and Risk Management Center to study topics related to climate mitigation. Majoring in business economics & public policy and minoring in design, the SNF Paideia Fellows program complements her study by providing applicable solutions to the socio-economic problems she learns about in her classes.
This summer Shirali will be interning at Zwift, a fitness tech startup, as a technical program management intern. She hopes to one day work in the non-profit or government sector to continue her involvement with civic engagement work on a larger scale.
